Mrs. Gloria Lane McGinty

Mrs. Gloria Lane McGinty was born May 6, 1926, in Richmond Hill, New York. She moved to Lanett in 1945 when she married Bill Spear of Lanett, who preceded her in death in 1965. In 1969, she married the Rev. Maynard McGinty, and together they served several small Baptist churches in the area, where they made many lifelong friends. When Rev. McGinty passed away in 2003, Mrs. McGinty returned to her home church, Lanett Congregational Christian Church.

Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Jeanette Spear; her parents, Norman and Mildred Lane; and her sisters, Ethel Lane and Norma Lane.

Mrs. McGinty is survived by her daughters, Norma Ainsworth and Cheri Bates (Marshall); her grandchildren, Lane Marberry (Neal), Dianne Parrish (Bobby) Audie Milner (Tammy), Warren Bates (Melanie), Nellann Johnson (Phillip), and Theda Joffe (Matt); her great-grandchildren, Nick Parrish, Stephanie Owsley (Michael), Thomas Baker, Will Baker, and Crystal Parrish; her great-great-grandchildren, Peyton Owsley, Mason Parrish, Katie Owsley, and Ella Kate Parrish.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 2 p.m. EST at the graveside in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Mark McCarty officiated. No visitation is planned.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, a gift may be made in Mrs. McGinty’s memory to Lanett Congregational Christian Church, Chattahoochee Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
