VALLEY — The Valley Police Department has received a generous donation from a local business owner in appreciation for the work it is doing.

Kevin Chen, owner of Zen House, has donated a total of 1,200 masks.

“We are very thankful for this, and we will put them to good use,” said Chief Tommy Weldon.

“Our officers will be using them in their interactions with the public and on their standard calls,” added Major Mike Reynolds.

Anyone who comes to the police department to discuss a matter with an officer will be able to use them as well.

“I just hope we don’t have to use all of them,” Weldon said.

Zen House has been in the Valley for going on 20 years now. It’s located in Valley Marketplace on heavily traveled Highway 29. The masks were manufactured in China, and Chen picked them up in the Chinatown section of Atlanta. He said that he wanted to give them to the police officers to thank them for the good work they do not just for looking out for his business but for looking out for all Valley businesses with their night-time patrols.
