LaFayette knocked out of tournament by Tuscaloosa Academy

The Bulldogs trailed early and were never able to take the lead. Lloyd making good runs inside. However, the Bulldog offense’s shots weren’t dropping. 

Tuscaloosa Academy had lots of success both behind the arc and inside the paint. Tuscaloosa’s Danilo Stojakovic was a pest for the Bulldogs. He contributed 19 of their 34 points in the first half. 

LaFayette looked more competitive in the second quarter. They took advantage of fouls. Most of their points came from quick transition buckets. However, they still had trouble breaking through Tuscaloosa’s defense and weren’t making threes.

Their defense looked better in the second half and the Bulldogs made more rebounds and steals However, they went into the locker room down 34-21.

Stojakovic continued his run in the third quarter. Despite LaFayette’s press, Tuscaloosa often found a way to score and draw the foul. A late steal and score by Huguely made it 46-33 going into the final frame.

The Bulldogs played hard in the final frame. The crowd was behind them as they chipped away at the Tuscaloosa lead. They were within 10 points until the Knights started hitting threes again. The Bulldogs hung in there, fighting for every ball. In the end, the early lead was insurmountable. 

Bulldogs ended their season as runner-up in the regional championship. Jordan Johnson and Quintavious Lloyd were both named to the All-Tournament.
