On Wednesday, the CCSD joined with the AU East Alabama Regional Inservice Center yesterday to recognize Correen Long, our STEAM Teacher at the Eastside-J.P. Powell STEAM Magnet School campus for earning National Board Certification. Dr. Laura Crowe from Auburn University presented Mrs. Long with a special medal of recognition for achieving NBCT status as an educator.
During Wednesday’s award ceremony at Eastside J.P. Powell STEAM Magnet School, the Chambers County School District honored Long for achieving National Board Certification status as an educator.
The NBCT status is considered the highest credential in the field of teaching for teachers that achieve the expectation for rigorous standards of excellence. Teachers must go through a demanding review process whereby they successfully demonstrate their impact on student learning, mastery of content knowledge, instructional practices and professional commitment.
All teachers that attain the National Board Certification standard exemplify the following 5 Core Propositions:
4 They are committed to the students and their learning.
4 They know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects successfully.
4 They are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning.
4 They think systematically about their practice and learn from their experience.
4 They are members of learning communities.
