Information from the Chambers County 911 & EMA shows to expect the core of the potential severe risk this evening into the overnight to be across the southern counties, which are currently in the Enhanced area. Damaging winds and a couple tornadoes remain possible.
Part of the county has been upgraded to the enhanced risk for threats. Try not to panic, just be prepared, and stay alert, according to Chambers County EMA.

SEVERE WEATHER AND SAFETY
There is A LOT of wind shear (turning of the winds) in the environment today, so there is a decent chance for tornadoes. Most of the area will be under the greatest threat for any tornadic development after it gets dark. When it’s dark is NOT the best time to figure out where to go if a warning is issued.
If you will be home, plan where to go. Inner room, lowest level is the best. Have a helmet on, wear shoes, and prep a safety kit with a NOAA Weather Radio, batteries, whistle, and extra food and water. Prep that this morning and have it in your safe place.
Take a picture of you AND your pets together in case you get separated. And make sure you can grab your pets and move. Don’t let them outside or wander if storms start approaching. If you know a storm is coming, put them in a carrier or on a leash and be ready to move. If you’re panicked, they will sense that.
If you will be out somewhere this evening/tonight, plan the best place to go. If you’re unsure, ask someone at that location if they have a safe place/plan. If you don’t have a safe place at your location, make sure you align yourself to where you can get to one easily, well ahead of any storm.
Cars, manufactured homes (this includes mobile homes and trailers) are not safe in a tornado. Make a plan of a safe place you can go if a Watch is issued, and allow yourself plenty of time to go.
Stay aware of the weather today. Watch radar, check your local officials, TV meteorologists, and our pages throughout the day for updates. The biggest thing you can do for yourself and your family, friends, and loved ones, is plan now.
