Flooding and severe storms forecasted Tuesday to Thursday

Overview: A prolonged period of active weather is forecast to develop from Tuesday through Thursday as waves of moderate to heavy rainfall pass across the area, resulting in low to medium chances for minor flooding of poor drainage and low-lying areas, and a low risk of isolated flash flooding. There is also a low risk of a few strong to severe storms on Wednesday night as a cold front moves into the area.
Changes from previous forecast: Introduced a Marginal risk of severe storms. Made small increases to rainfall accumulation values.

  • Flooding: Points generally along and north of Interstate 20 with lesser or no impact to the south.
  • Severe: Far western and southwestern portions of Central Alabama.
When:
  • Flooding: Tuesday through Thursday
  • Severe: Wednesday Night
Threats:
  • Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.
  • A brief tornado or two.
  • Isolated flash flooding.
