Love is in LaFayette air at third annual Love LaFayette

The community came together once again for LaFayette Main Street’s third annual Love LaFayette event on the Square on Friday. From food trucks to live music to community awards, love was in the air for the city in downtown LaFayette.
Dozens of residents came out to enjoy the festivities on Friday, as LaFayette Main Street Director DeAnna Hand said many were eager for another Food Truck Festival.
The ongoing community renovation project for the old Martin Theater was also open for tours and live music to help promote the fundraising efforts.
LaFayette Main Street, a designation through Main Street Alabama, aims to stimulate the economic growth, tourism and design elements of LaFayette’s historic square. The city was designated a Main Street city in 2022.
Throughout January, LaFayette Main Street held polls for the “LaFayette Loves Our Locals” Awards, which recognized LaFayette residents who contribute to the city and its downtown area.
According to Hand, over 450 votes came in for the “LaFayette Loves Our Locals” awards. The following are the awards that were given out on Friday night:
Olympia Ware, the Miss LaFayette Main Street Award
Debbie and Bill Edge, the “Best Couple in Business” Award
Madison Turner (LaFayette High School), the Young LaFayette Student Award
Dori Harmon, the Best Style Award
Drs. Al and Terry Vestor, the Longest Marriage Award
Gage Richardson, the Public Servant Award
Kayla Snow Thompson, the Most Creative Award
Connor and Maci Gregory, the High School Sweethearts Award
Connor and Maci Gregory, the Newlyweds Award
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hand, The Good Neighbor Award
Hayden Hurst and Connor Gregory, Bromance/Sisterhood Award
Alesha Presley, Friendliest Award
Dr. Butch Busby, Most Community Love Award
Pastor Veronica Roesly, Pastor/Clergy Award
Residents voted on superlatives like the “High School Sweethearts,” the “Longest Marriage” and “Best Bromance/Sisterhood Award.”
