With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, Cupid has been spotted at the LaFayette square.

A new February tradition hosted by LaFayette Main Street, Love LaFayette, is a celebration of LaFayette’s pride and love in its third year.

LaFayette Main Street is a downtown organization that works to stimulate the economic growth, tourism and design elements of LaFayette’s historic square. The city was designated a Main Street city in 2022.

Since then, Main Street has hosted events, held local business open houses and pushed for grants to help beautify downtown.

Since the community has been eager for another Food Truck Festival, LaFayette Main Street Director DeAnna Hand said this year’s Love LaFayette will also be a food truck event.

Earlier this month, Hand had already secured 20 food truck vendors for the event on Feb. 7 from 5-9 p.m. CT.

Many of the Food Truck Festival favorites will be returning to the city.

Hand said that there will also be lots of vendors catering to those with a sweet tooth on Friday. “Let’s Shake On It Milkshakes” will be one of the vendors.

Earlier this month, residents had a chance to participate in the Love LaFayette spirit by voting for locals in some love-themed superlatives. The “LaFayette Loves Our Locals” Awards will recognize LaFayette residents who contribute to the city and its downtown area.

Residents got to nominate and vote their neighbors for things like the “High School Sweethearts,” the “Longest Marriage” and “Best Bromance/Sisterhood Award.”

The awards will be presented at the Love LaFayette Food Truck Festival event on the square.

The deadline for nominations end on Wednesdsay at midnight.
