Springwood hurdled Edgewood 65-30 to move on to the quarterfinals of the AISA basketball tournament.
The Wildcats led wire to wire. The offense exploded in the first, led by Shalexia Little who put up 13 points in the quarter. The Lanett side led 20-4 after the first eight minutes.
Edgewood settled into the game a bit, scoring 10 in the second, but the Wildcats shot well from the three-point line. They went into the locker room with a comfortable 33-14 lead.
The third was the only period where Edgewood matched the Wildcat offensive. Both teams put up 13 points apiece.
Things were business as usual; however, during the fourth, the team put up 19 points and held the other Wildcats to just three points.
Little scored 28 points, putting on an offensive clinic. Tori Patillo put up 14 points and Emily Jo Matthews put up 10. Eight Wildcats in total got on the scoreboard.
“The biggest thing right now for them is just go and get off the feet and relax. We’ll watch these next two games and get a scout [report]. And then, be ready for tomorrow,” Sampson said.
