The Beulah Bobcats softball team made easy work of Lee-Scott Academy on Friday, winning 11-1.
It was Lee-Scott who struck first with a one-run homer on ball four in the top of the second.
Beuah’s Kyleigh Morgan would single in the bottom of the inning, but the Bobcats offense didn’t see success until the third inning. A bunt single by Claire Dubose moved Lilly Grant to third base. Dubose moved herself over with a steal. Then, a passed ball brought Grant home.
A walk, a hit-by-pitch and then three more walks allowed for Beulah to take an easy 4-1 lead. Clara Burke added one more run in the inning with a sac fly.
Madyson Snedigar and the Bobcat defense send down the side in the fourth inning and digs back in. Maci Wingo singles and gets to second on a passed ball. A wild pitch moves her over to third. A ground out by Madison Tapley finally brings her home to end the fourth 6-1.
Beulah continued to play small ball, with a single here, a sac-fly there. The runners did well to take advantage of Lee-Scotts fielding errors.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the sixth that the hitters showed real power. Tappley hits a rocket to right field and turns a single into a triple, thanks to a Lee-Scott error. Morgan batted her in with a line drive to center. Later in the inning, C-Burke hits a monster triple to right field for a two-RBI ending to the game.
Burke had a productive four RBI night on just one hit. Morgan was the only Bobcat to have two hits.
The Bobcats return to action on March 11 against Beauregard at 4 p.m. CT.
