The Chambers County Commissioner discussed upcoming events at Monday night’s meeting.
Commissioner Sam Bradford presented Chris Busby, board director of the Valley Haven School, with a proclamation recognizing the annual LaFayette Day and Hike/Bike/Run fundraiser. LaFayette Day will celebrate its 29th anniversary.
As is tradition, the Commission read a proclamation making the week of April 7 to 1, 2025 LaFayette Days for the school and the week of April 28 to May 2, 2025, as Hike/Bike/Run Week.
Commissioner Sam Bradford read the proclamation saying, “Valley Haven provides a valuable service to our area individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities…And we call upon all citizens of our county to join with 1000s of other individuals and generously helping to provide the funds for support of Valley Haven school.”
“Thank you, Commissioners, for always graciously supporting this worthwhile organization and allowing us to raise funds here in the city of LaFayette,” Busby said.
He announced the event will be held April 12 this year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT in the downtown square.
The Town of Cusseta was on the agenda later in the evening. There was a resolution to begin the process of allowing Cusseta to annex some of the surrounding land into the town limits.
The town also asked for the road upkeep within the annex to continue to be under the management of the county. In exchange, the town would provide the county with Rebuild Alabama and other tax revenue for the cost of road maintenance. The county voted to approve the recommendation unanimously.
