The 3-8 Eufaula Tigers handed Valley their first loss of the season, in a low-hitting 3-1 home game.
Starting pitcher Logan Seymour sends down the batters in order to start the game. However, the Rams could only get a single, by Matthew McDonald, in the bottom of the first.
Both sides would have little offensive luck until the top of the third. Eufaula gets two runners on base, setting up a sac-fly, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Rams got two base runners on with a walk and hit-by-pitch but were unable to bring them home in the bottom of the third. They had better luck in the fourth after Eufaula beaned two batters in a row. Pinch runner, Kade Riley stole second and made a smart dash for third after the Shortstop threw it into the outfield. After a curious pick-off attempt at first, Riley steals home to tie up the game.
The momentum was short-lived as three singles gave Eufaula a run in the fifth. The teams would put runners, but no one passed home until the top of the 7th inning. Valley intentionally walked a batter to make the bases loaded with two outs. Relief pitcher Rush Nelson walks the next batter, allowing the runner to walk home. Nelson had a good outing overall, allowing five hits in his five innings pitched.
The Rams had four hits in the game. McDonald, Ty Monteith, Seth Hammock and Cole House all had a hit a piece.
Valley looks to bounce back Saturday during another road game against Headland. The first pitch is at 11 a.m. CT.
