The City of LaGrange is hosting the ‘Ride for Willie T. and Car Show’ on Saturday, April 12. The ride will start in the AMC Classic LaGrange 10 Movie Theatre, 201 Main Street parking lot and go to Antioch, the late Mayor Willie T. Edmondson’s hometown.
Willie T. Edmondson was the former mayor of LaGrange and longtime pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in West Point. The ride, in its second year, was started by LaGrage council member Quay Boddie in memory of Edmondson, who passed in 2024.
“Edmondson was a mentor to me, and I always looked up to him. I know he loved cars and thought this was a good way to bring the community together, keep his legacy alive, and raise money for his scholarship fund,” Boddie said.
This event will begin with a car show at 10:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. At that time, there will be a short awards ceremony. Following the ceremony, all vehicles are invited to participate in the “Ride for Willie T.”
The public is invited to attend the car show free of charge. However, there is a $25 charge to participate in the car show. All the proceeds from the event will go toward the Willie T. Edmondson Memorial Scholarship Fund.
