Two rounds of severe storms are expected Friday night through early Sunday morning, according to the Chambers County EMA.
The first round late Friday night through Saturday morning will be conditional as storms may struggle to form, but those that do form will be in a very favorable environment for tornadoes (potentially a strong tornado), large hail and damaging winds.
This is especially of concern given the overnight time frame. An outbreak of severe storms is then expected Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning.
Risks include strong, potentially long-track tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. Winds will also be gusty ahead of the storms Saturday afternoon and evening.
Since the previous forecast, the Moderate Risk area expanded to include the entire area on Saturday.
Friday Night through Saturday Morning: Level 1 Marginal Risk to Level 3 Enhanced Risk
Where: All but southeast Central Alabama
When: 11 PM Friday night through 8 AM Saturday morning
Threats:
Tornadoes (potential for a strong tornado)
Quarter size hail
Damaging winds up to 60 mph
Saturday Afternoon through Sunday Morning: Level 4 Moderate Risk
Where: All of Central Alabama
When: 12 PM Saturday through 3 AM Sunday morning
Threats:
Strong tornadoes, potentially long-tracked
Golf ball size hail
Damaging winds up to 70 mph
A Wind Advisory will be considered for gradient wind gusts of 30-40 mph ahead of the storms. These winds would promote spread of any fires that develop.
