The 15th annual Sweep the Hooch event will be hosted on Saturday, March 22. Over 60 locations will be participating in the litter cleanup along the Chattahoochee River watershed.
The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper organization hosts the Sweep the Hooch every year, encouraging citizens to clean up litter at dozens of parks, creeks, and trails.
Last year, volunteers for Sweep the Hooch removed over 32 tons of trash in a single day, according to Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., volunteer groups will be out cleaning up the river that supports countless communities throughout Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Registration is required, but participation is free.
