Team WHIP is teaming up with local law enforcement for the Badges and Bras Initiative, the organization’s newest fundraising program. The efforts which will sponsor fittings for customized prosthetics bras for individuals who have gone through mastectomies provided by Forge Breast Cancer Center.
The Forge Breast Cancer Center in Birmingham, a partner of Team WHIP (Working to Help Those in Pink), offers the prosthetics bras to breast cancers who opted not to get reconstructive surgery.
“We know insurance does cover some prosthetics, but not all. Everybody doesn’t have that insurance coverage,” said Narfunda Ross, founder of Team WHIP. “That’s what team quip is here for. We’re here to be that help. We want every woman to thrive beyond the color, thrive beyond the diagnosis, and we don’t want anyone to feel left behind because they do not have an essential to thrive.”
For anyone who submits an application for a bra, a Forge certified professional will travel to Chambers County for consulting and measuring. With the help of the fundraiser, the bra will be free.
So far, the Lanett Police Department has joined the initiative with Team WHIP’s initiative. The police department will have a donation box at the front desk for those who want to contribute to the program.
On March 15, Team WHIP will host an in-person fundraising event at the Guthrie’s in Lanett. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET, there will be music and entertainment from Team WHIP and any law enforcement participating in the initiative.

The slogan of the program is “We want you to check your headlights,” as a metaphor for remembering to get mammograms every year and check for suspicious lumps.
Team WHIP’s theme this year is “Savoring in the TEA” where TEA stands for thriving, essentials and attributes.
“And we all know breasts are an attribute to any woman, so we don’t want any woman to feel less than and we don’t want any woman to feel left behind from thriving beyond the diagnosis,” Ross said.
Team WHIP is a breast cancer awareness and survivor support organization based in the West Point and Lanett-area that hosts yearly events, support groups and fundraising for survivors.
