On April 17, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers with the Lanett Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded to the 200 block of South 8th Street following a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a child.

Upon arrival, first responders determined that a vehicle had struck an 11-year-old child who was reportedly riding a bicycle in the roadway. The child received immediate medical attention on the scene and was subsequently transported to East Alabama Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation by the Lanett Police Department. Additional details will be released as they become available.
