Beulah had a fun day at the ballpark. Three members of the team were recognized during the Senior Night celebration prior to the game. Daniel Darnell, Wes Grant and Trent Tidwell stood on the third base line with their families as the team and crowd celebrated the graduating ball players.
They were each gifted with a wooden plaque with their name, number and ‘Beulah Baseball’ on it. They were also given a mason jar full of dirt from every field they had played on during their final season as Bobcats.
The team celebrated in fashion when the game started with a walk-off 4-3 win.
Beulah struck first. Tidwell walked in the bottom of the second and was moved over by a Troy Toungett single. Another walk loaded the bases. Kason Kalla then laid down a sacrifice bunt to put the Bobcats up 1-0.
Dadeville answered with an RBI single in the third. They would pull ahead 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning, when a Tiger hit a single with bases loaded.
The Bobcats hung in the game. Grant knocked a double to get into scoring position. Jadin Hancock drove him in with a single to left field.
The runs did not come easy for either team. Going into the final half inning, the Bobcats were down 3-2. A walk got the fans hoping for a comeback. Then, a single by Sye Siggers put the winning run on base. Hancock hit a ground ball single to tie the game up.
It was Brady Blackston who had the heroic momentum. A line drive single to right field brought Siggers home and walked it off 4-3.
The Bobcats had 10 hits in the game. Hancock led the team with two RBIs and two hits. Blackston and Kalla each had an RBI. Siggers and Grant also tallied two hits.
Blackston had a great day defensively, also. The starter pitched seven innings, only allowing three runs on five hits.
