The agreement for road services between the Chambers County Commission and the town of Cusseta has been executed. During Monday’s work session, County Attorney Skip McCoy discussed the agreement with the commissioners.
The commission approved a resolution earlier this year saying they would not oppose a Cusseta annexation for certain properties in the town’s incorporated territory. The municipality has now passed a reciprocal ordinance needed in order to initiate the filing with the state legislative delegation of the bill, according to McCoy.
State Representative Debbie Wood is carrying the bill in the House.
The commission’s condition for their bill was that they would enter a public road responsibility agreement with the town of Cusseta, which provided that the county would be paid around $78,000 from the Rebuild Alabama funding to maintain certain roads involved in the annexation.
Cusseta executed that agreement last week, according to McCoy.
