The Kids Fishing Rodeo of the Greater Valley Area is back for another year. On June 7, kids are invited to come out and enjoy a day of fishing under the summer sun.

Organized by the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, the fishing rodeo began two years ago.

About 80 young fishers came out to participate in the day of hooks, bait and reels last year, doubling the turnout from the year before. Last year, 750 pounds of fish were dumped in the pond for the event.

The event is hosted at the Hardley Creek Park pond at the West Point Lake.

Registration for the event will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. ET. Individuals not registered will not be allowed to participate. The fishing begins at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until 12 p.m. ET.

The lake at Hardley Creek Park will be stocked with tagged fish and each one caught will be worth a cash prize.

In addition to the partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has partnered with the GVACC this year as the Fish Sponsor.

Johnny’s NY Pizza and Bluffton Bait & Tackle are also sponsoring the event with refreshments for the fishermen and the fish.
