The Fredonia Community Barbecue has returned in its second year since COVID-19. The 71st annual event will be held on Saturday, April 26.

Fredonia Community Club President Cindy Yates announced the generations-long family event recently. Yates said the event last year was the first since the COVID-19 pandemic and was rated as a success. To purchase tickets, people are encouraged to reach out to Faye Green at 334-499-2338 or visit the Fredonia Antiques and Uniques shop.

The barbecue will be held at the Fredonia Community House at 6160 Chambers County Road 222, about one block away from the County Road 267 intersection.

According to a press release from the Fredonia Community Club, the cost per ticket is $15. Proceeds from the barbecue will go toward maintaining the community center, Fredonia Town Hall and the 106-year-old former school building.

Beginning at 5 p.m. ET, Fredonia community members will be served with their plate of barbecue and fellowship. Those who buy tickets can either stay for “all you can eat” barbecue or take home a “to-go” plate.

The event will be an alcohol-free dinner. No tickets will be sold at the door.
