LANETT — An 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, a ribbon was cut to officially launch a new business in Lanett. Affiliated with Farmers Insurance, the J.P. Moore Agency is located on one of Lanett’s two triangles. One is in the downtown area and is home to the city’s fountain.
The J.P. Moore Agency is where South 8th Avenue, South Jennings Avenue and South 10th Street are joined. At one time, the law office of the late Charles Aaron was located there.
The new business has the motto “When You Need More Insurance.” J.P.’s mom and business partner Gretchen Moore explains, “If you have it we can insure it.”
Mom and son along with Mark Dyess are all fully licensed to provide all kinds of insurance, both the conventional kind and lots of unconventional insurance, too, such as pet insurance, liability for lawn services, insurance for airplanes, event liability and so on.
“If you can provide something, we can insure it,” Gretchen said.
A nice-sized crowd was on hand for the official opening. The event was hosted by the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Jamie Heard, Police Chief Denise McCain and Council Members Ronnie Tucker and Tony Malone were there representing the city. Also present were some police officers and firefighters.
“I am excited about this new business being here,” said GVACC Executive Director Carrie Wood. “Gretchen has been a good friend of mine for a long time. I wish her and he son J.P. much success here.”
Mayor Heard thanked them for locating in Lanett. The Moores said they were well pleased to be in the city.
“We want to thank the city for everything they have done in helping get us started,” said Gretchen. “I am so grateful to have this crowd here. Following the ribbon cutting we want everyone here to go inside for refreshments. We are so blessed to be here. We want to grow our business as the community around us grows.”
“We have 32 programs we can write for,” J.P. Moore said. “If you need anything from having your car insured or a million dollar liability covered we can do that. We have a diverse financial situation here in this community. We can find something to cover your needs, We would love to have you come by to talk about life insurance.”
