The VHS soccer program celebrated its seniors this past Tuesday at Ram Stadium. The Rams met the Lee-Scott Warriors in their first-ever soccer matchup. The Rams have also secured their spot in the playoffs for the first time in program history.
The seniors honored were: Simone Floyd, David Paschal, Mackenzie Sanders, Edgar Moralez, Miguel Sosa, Esmer Bravo, Daniela Cardenas, Molly Williams, Sam Herston and Matthew Dunn
The Lady Rams fell 10-0 to Lee-Scott. They were led by senior Molly Williams. Williams had two shots and one steal. Milagros Augustin had three steals. Senior Simone Floyd had two steals. Madison Dent and Adelaide Floyd each had one steal. Goalkeepers Katelyn DeLoach and Gracie Llorens each had seven saves.
The boys’ team secured a huge 4-2 victory. The Rams were led by a duo of brothers. Santiago and Jose Diaz each had a great performance. Santiago finished with two goals on three shots. Jose had two PK goals and two shots. Cristofer Macario had one assist. Defensively, the Rams were led by goalie Khristain Gonzalez. Gonzalez finished with seven saves.
Most importantly, with Beauregard’s loss at Sylacauga, the Rams have secured the runner-up spot in the Area 7 standings. This guarantees VHS a playoff spot for the first time in school history.
“I am just so excited for my guys. To send David, Miguel, Sam, Esmer, and Edgar out as winners is great. I also want to say thank you to Molly, Dani, Mackenzie, and Simone for their efforts over the past few seasons. This senior class has been a big part of the success of our program. I am proud of the effort and determination from this team and program. I can’t wait to see how the remainder of the season goes for us,” said coach William Elliot.
VHS will play their final game of the 2025 regular season next Monday when they travel to Elmore County.
