PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 PM CDT for east central
Alabama.

The threat of severe storms has ended north of I-20 but will continue into the evening south of I-20.  A few damaging wind gusts and a couple of tornadoes are possible, especially south of I-85 and east of I-65 this afternoon.  In addition, a couple of supercells could develop ahead of the line, which would enhance the tornado threat.
The line of storms is expected to stall across central Alabama later today.  Widespread rainfall of 1-4 inches has already occurred along and behind the line of storms.  An additional 0.5 – 2 inches is possible through Monday afternoon near and north of I-20, with 3-6 inches south of I-20.  There is growing concern that the stalling boundary could lead to 6+ inch totals east of I-65 and south of I-85 through Monday afternoon.  This could produce significant flooding issues later today into Monday.
