SU Students Honored at All-Alabama Recognition Program

BIRMINGHAM – Southern Union students Kadiri Gates and Bethany Hegwood were among the 48 Alabama Community College students recognized at the 30th Annual All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program on Friday at the Embassy Suites Birmingham-Hoover.
“These accolades demonstrate the dedication and hard work of our students, signifying the high standards of excellence upheld by the ACCS,” said Jimmy H. Baker, chancellor of the ACCS. “I am proud of both the faculty and students, whose tremendous efforts make these achievements and this event possible.”
Each student earned a $1,000 scholarship from the Paths for Success Foundation to be used at any public or private college of their choice.
With campuses in Wadley, Opelika, and Valley, Southern Union State Community College was founded in 1922 and is the second-oldest two-year college in Alabama. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees. SUSCC is a member of the Alabama Community College System.
