LaFayette had quite a run this season. The Bulldogs made an appearance in the regional championship in Montgomery before, ultimately, falling to Tuscaloosa Academy.  Two seniors led the way, Jordan Johnson and Quintavious Lloyd. Both were awarded to the All-Tournament team as a result.

Johnson was one of the most fun players to watch, with an undeniable offensive flair and ability to get the crowd excited. He had the highest points per game average in the county with 24.4 points. The guard put up a whopping 732 points and averaged 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Lloyd was the backbone of the team, a steady presence on both sides of the court. He averaged 19.3 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. Defensively, he tallied 50 blocks and 75 steals over the season.

Beulah’s Cam Baker was a standout for his team. The junior averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The Bobcats will get back the leader for what will likely be a standout season.

Springwood was stacked this season with an All-State caliber starting five. They just came short of a state championship, having to settle for AISA AA runner-up.

Greg Johnson was a constant playmaker under the basket. Despite playing 23 games, he led the team in rebounds with 200 (8.7 rebounds per game). He averaged 12 points per game. He also made 23 blocks over the season. Greg committed to Huntingdon College to continue his basketball career.

CJ Johnson was the scoring leader for the Wildcats, with 415 points (16.6 points per game). He had 123 rebounds and 42 assists this year. CJ made the AISA All-State second team.

2nd Team: Shamar Patterson, Jeramiah McGilberry, Eddie Mitchell, Jayden Weaver, Clarence Moore

Lanett will be the team to watch next year. Three juniors made the All-Valley second team: Shamar Patterson, Jeramiah McGilberry and Eddie Mitchell.

Shamar Patterson was the scoring leader for Lanett, averaging 15.1 points per game (317 points this season). He also contributed by making 6.1 rebounds per game (129 in the season) and averaged three assists per game.

McGilberry was a force for Lanett, using his big frame to overpower other teams. He led the area in rebounds per game with a hearty 11. The center also totaled 273 points, 41 assists, 15 blocks and 13 steals this season.

Mitchell only played 16 games compared to Patterson and McGilberry’s 21 games. However, he was highly effective while on the court. He put up 13.1 points per game (209 in total) and led the team with 5.1 assists per game (81 total).

Valley’s Jayden Weaver made the list for similar reasons. The guard only appeared in 17 games but led the Rams in points (172), rebounds (122) and assists (41). He worked well inside, notching 7.2 rebounds per game.

Clarence Moore was a great conductor for Springwood this season and played a key role in getting the Wildcats to the title game. He played every game, averaging 11.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. The quick point guard had 31 steals this season.
