Berry Global Inc., a plastics manufacturer, has announced that it will be closing its Lanett plant. Berry (now called Amcor) makes plastic buckets at its facility on South Phillips Road in the Huguely Industrial Park.

The WARN letter, which requires companies to announce closures and/or mass layoffs, was filed by Berry on May 2. The Lanett closure will mean the layoff of 112 workers. The scheduled date for closing is July 1.

The company was recently acquired by Amcor on April 30, 2025, and now operates under the name.

Chris Busby, Executive Director of the Chambers County Development Authority, released a statement on the closure on Monday.

“The announcement of the Berry Global plant closure in Huguley is obviously very disappointing to the community, and we recognize the impact it will have on employees, their families, and local businesses,” read the statement. “While this is a challenging time, our office, along with our local and state partners, are committed to working with the company to ensure that affected workers are supported and have new opportunities for growth and employment in Chambers County. We are a community of strength, and we will continue to pursue economic growth and resilience to ensure a strong and sustainable economic future.”
