There is a great amount of buzz around the Downtown West Point area these days. In the past few years, it has added various elements of Point University; as well as several restaurants that have added to the already existing mainstays that have been in the area for years. Add in the downtown atmosphere and the local shops for people to browse through and the area has become a wonderful place for people to have a great day or evening with friends or family.
“Downtown West Point is like something from a Hallmark movie. It is a great place to come dine or shop and just spend a relaxing day or evening with friendly people and a great atmosphere.” Said West Point Mayor Steve Tramell, “If you are wanting to start a business in West Point, you will need to hurry up because it is filling up fast!”
The mayor pointed out four newcomers either already opened up recently or are opening soon. One of those that has already opened their doors is Birds on a Wire Photography that recently brought a studio to a space downtown. It is a great addition to the area and already a proven commodity as it has been voted the best photographer in Auburn-Opelika for 2 years in a row. They will offer their services for weddings, boudoirs, seniors, births, headshots, events, and many other styled sessions.
Another business that recently opened up is Scott Candle Company. The company uses only clean and natural ingredients to make their candles and are handcrafted in their downtown location. They also hand make soaps, bath salts, self-care products, and household care products too.
Coming in August to downtown will be the Coffee Gin Company that will be next to Karvelas. They will be offering coffee and expresso drinks, breakfast, baked goods, and ice cream. They will also have a play area for kids and will use their space to help showcase and support art from talented artists.
Rounding out the new additions is the business that is next to open its doors in West Point. Pure Souls will be opening this Memorial Day weekend. They will be kicking things off with exclusive deals and the freshest kicks in town according to their Facebook page. They will be offering customers the chance to get custom shoes and apparel, bringing a unique flare to the downtown area.
