The City of Lanett is gearing up for a summer of fun and activities that will last into the fall. Starting on June 8, Festival on the Square will commence and bring a Sunday of vendors, food, games, and entertainment to the city. The event will take place three more times throughout the summer on July 13, Aug. 17, and Sept. 14.

The city will also host a Farmers Market on several Saturdays in the summer and fall. Beginning on June 21, growers will be able to set up and sell in the city’s square. The other dates that it will take place are July 19, Aug. 2 and 16, Sept. 6 and 20 and Oct. 4 and 18. It will allow one place for people to buy from local farmers and growers.

Both events are presented by The Valley Local, in conjunction with the City of Lanett and any proceeds for Festival on the Square will go to the City of Lanett Recreation Department and the Senior Center.

“We love partnering with the City of Lanett to bring the community together on the weekend, Trent McCants and the entire Recreation Department are great to work with and help us make the entire Festival on the Square possible for the entire Greater Valley Area,” said Sara Crutchfield, The Co-founder and Director of The Valley Local. “It will be a great time for people to come out and enjoy the various things we have going on with the city.”

Festival on the Square will feature a wide variety of food trucks and vendors like Lick Em Lips BBQ, Audiss Crafts, DAQ Attack, and several others. There will be bingo starting at 3:30 p.m. ET and the Army National Guard will be bringing plenty of entertainment to the event with activities and fun for kids, including rock climbing and inflatables. It will take place from 3 p.m. ET to 6:30 p.m. ET.

The Farmers Market will be free for farmers and growers and they can sign up at Lanett City Hall, but they are required to have a notarized growers permit in order to be able to sell at the event. Set-up for the events will begin at 8 a.m. ET and will be open to the public from 9 a.m. ET to 12 p.m. ET.
