Rounding out the top 3 for Valley High School’s graduating class of 2025 should come as no surprise to most who know him, Ben Clifton.
Clifton could often be seen around school always being a positive and humorous presence to those around him.
From the outside, he is usually seen as quiet but as people get to know him, he has an infectious personality that brightens people’s day.
Clifton could be seen around VHS always being involved in something. He was a member of Key Club, Beta Club and Honor Society, and he was on the drumline for three years. He is always participating in various projects and helping with community service.
“My advice to high school students is to join as many clubs as you can,” Clifton said when asked, “They are a great look on your resume.”
After high school, Ben plans to attend Southern Union first before transferring to Auburn University. He wants to pursue a degree in Management Information Systems. It is a field that would seem to come naturally to Clifton, as many around the school are very impressed with his knowledge and use of technology.
When asked about his high school experience, Ben said, “I will definitely miss my classes in percussion and history the most.” History is what he considers his favorite subject because it is what has always interested him the most. He mentions Mr. Meadows as his favorite teacher because he has had percussion as a class with him since the sixth grade. Both subjects helped to shape him as a student and person.
Always one to be modest in his approach, Clifton did not point to a single individual or event as his inspiration; instead he took into consideration the whole Valley experience, in and out of school. Clifton shared that he is inspired by everyone who pushes him to try and do the best that he can do.
