Brandon Brooks has lived his entire life in District D in LaFayette. He cares deeply for his community and wants to help those who feel overlooked. Familiar with the political world, Brooks ran for mayor of LaFayette in 2020. He learned from that campaign and plans to use his experience to win a seat on the city council.
Brooks is seeking the District D seat vacated by Councilman Mike Ellis, who is not running for reelection.
Brooks is among three candidates vying for the chance to serve on the LaFayette City Council.
Brooks refrains from making empty promises about LaFayette’s future; instead, he concentrates on listening to the people he will represent with the goal of providing results to those who seek them.
What Brooks promises is quiet, assured leadership that listens to community members who might otherwise go unheard. He believes a strong voice on the council is essential to bringing the public’s desires to the forefront.
He relies on discipline and determination to achieve his goals, and if elected, he will channel that energy toward helping the town he calls home and its citizens.
Brooks’ experience beyond politics, working as a senior manager for United States defense contractors, demonstrates his ability to handle the ever-changing nature of serving on the LaFayette City Council. His experience with cross-functional teams lends itself to being able to navigate the challenges of working with council members from other districts. He recognizes that, to accomplish anything, it is essential to collaborate with others to reach goals that benefit the community.
Serving as a conduit between people and action in his management role, Brooks’ disciplined problem-solving approach shows his potential as a leader for District D.
Brooks has deep roots in the LaFayette area, with his entire family supporting his decision to run for the city council. Their support encourages and inspires him to take on the challenge of becoming a LaFayette city council member.
Brooks wishes to see more sustainable job growth in the LaFayette area, whether it comes from manufacturing or the entertainment industry. Anything that will bring jobs to the area is of interest to him.
When Brooks is not working or campaigning, he spends his time outdoors — often riding back roads on his ATVs while enjoying the natural beauty of rural Alabama. As an “outside the box” leader, he plans to bring this passion to the city council by proposing new recreational areas and other amenities for the people of LaFayette.
Brooks’ love for LaFayette comes from its close-knit atmosphere. “We’re all family here, even if we’re not blood-related,” he explained.
