City halls will be closed in West Point, Lanett and Valley on Friday, July 4, but will reopen at the regular times on Monday, July 7.
Valley Community Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT on the Fourth. A free swim will be taking place at the Community Center pool from noon until 3 p.m. on Friday.
Everyone’s invited to come out to Friday’s fireworks show near the Sportsplex parking lot. Weather conditions permitting, fireworks shows on July 4 have been taking place in Valley since Valley Sportsplex was dedicated on July 4, 1996.
The Valley Farmer’s Market won’t be taking place this Friday but will resume next Friday with a special event, Free Tomato Sandwich Day. The annual event was started by Evan and Jeanette Mason at the Village Curb Market off Hwy. 29 in Valley and is now being carried on at the Farmer’s Market. Everyone’s invited to come out and enjoy a free tomato sandwich from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 11.
The outdoor pool at the L.B. Sykes Community Center in Lanett will be closed on July 4 and will reopen on Saturday, July 5. It will remain open Monday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. each day, until school starts.
