Mrs. Floy M. Wilder, 85, of Lanett passed away surrounded by loving family on Monday, November 27, 2017 at UAB Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Wilder lived in Lanett her entire life except for the past six years when she lived in the Birmingham area.

Mrs. Wilder was a member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Ashland, Alabama. She was a lover of Sacred Harp Music and enjoyed traveling the world attending singings. She began working at WestPoint Pepperell’s Lanett Bleachery & Dye Works and retired after a cumulative 50 years with WestPoint Stevens as an administrative assistant at the Corporate Office.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Morris Edward Wilder; parents, Arnslo and Mary Morris and two sisters, Wynelle Birchfield and Hazel Cagle.  Survivors are: children, Paul and Jane Wilder of Bowling Green, Ky., Lee and Dana Wilder of Rockford, Ala., Norma and Chuck Moore of Hoover, Ala. and David and Lori Wilder of Douglas, Ga.; grandchildren: Wesley Wilder, Lori Ann Cline, Clay Wilder, Erin Ellis, Meredith Moore, Elizabeth Burnam and Austin Wilder; great grandchildren: Alexis and Alesha Wilder, Mairen and Seth Cline and Jake Wilder; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wilder was loved by many friends in Lanett, her church family and fellow Sacred Harp singers. She faced Alzheimer’s with the dignity and grace in which she lived her life and dearly missed Lanett during her years away. Even through her disease the Lord blessed her with the ability to continue to play the piano. Please join our family in supporting Alzheimer’s Association of Alabama (www.alzca.org) in lieu of flowers.  A special thanks to the wonderful staff at The Oaks at Parkwood, UAB Highland’s Hospital and to her grandchildren who are caring hospice nurses, Erin Wilder Ellis and Clay Wilder.
