Valley Runnin’ Rams upset 6A Opelika 80-77

VALLEY — The Valley High Runnin’ Rams basketball team and boys B-team both opened the season in style here Monday evening as coach Marshoh Harper’s team upset 6A Opelika 80-77 in the varsity contest. In addition, coach Mike Power’s boys B-team posted a 63-45 win over Opelika as well. Coach George Grimes’ Lady Rams dropped a 66-19 decision to the Lady Bulldogs.
•In the boys varsity game, Valley utilized a balanced scoring attack as Davontrez Daniel led the way with 18 points, Keionte Dent tallied 17 points, Keauntea Holloway chipped in with 12 points and Quez Trammell had 11. Tracy Winston added nine and Lagarian Hutchinson scored six.
•The boys B-team game, Bray Cochran led the way with 18 points, Jacquez Trammell added 13, Braylon Woody tallied nine and B.J. Smith scored eight.
•In the girls game, the Lady Rams were led by Ana Magby with 10 while Kenjadae Dunn, Emerald Floyd and Jasmine Frazier all had three points.
