Christmas Open House

Wednesday was a fun day at the Alabama Visitor Center on I-85 in Lanett.
The staff hosted their annual Christmas Open House.
Visitors stopping by on their way south were treated to slices of the above 40th anniversary cake, along with cookies, chips and lemonade.
Every ornament on the Christmas Tree represented something sweet to eat.
There’s also a Road Trip Alabama tree showing ideal tourist destinations in the state.
The center observed its 40th anniversary this past August. Anywhere between 500 and 1,000 people make stops at the visitor center each day.
Many are amazed that the elephant ears are still lush and green in the flower beds out front.
That may not be the case come Monday since we have some below-freezing temperatures expected this weekend.
