Mrs. Exa Allen Rearden, 94, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and formerly of Valley, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Capstone Village in Tuscaloosa.

Mrs. Rearden was born in Chambers County on May 16, 1923 to the late Louella and Paul Allen.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Thomas Rearden and her siblings, Laurence, Jimmie, Arnold Allen, and Sara Allen Mann.

Mrs. Rearden was a member of the Fairfax Baptist Church and had retired from WestPoint Pepperell.

She is survived by her daughter, Louellyn (Doug) Phillips of Duncanville, Ala.; two grandchildren, Sara (Steven) Shirley, Northport, Ala. and Forrest Phillips, LaFayette, La.;   some much-loved nieces and nephews, and two special caregivers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley with interment following in Johnson Memorial Gardens.  The Reverend Chuck Goodwin will officiate. Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 .m. EST until the service hour.
