Girl Scouts from the West Point area have started cookie sales in J. Smith Lanier II Park in downtown West Point. Girls from Troop 18069 will be there, rain or shine, from 4 to 6 p.m. every Friday through March 16.

Chambers County EMA encourages everyone to practice their Tornado safety drills and plans this Wednesday Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. Providing the weather is all clear, we will sound the tornado sirens at 10 a.m. in coordination with the National Weather Service and NOAA Weather Radio Alerts. Again, we encourage Schools, Business’, and citizens at home to utilize this time to practice their safety plans and drills. The Chambers County Commission Rules, Ways and Means Committee will meet at 2 p.m. CST on Monday, Feb. 26. The Human Resources Committee will meet at 2:45 p.m. on the same day. Both meetings will take place in the Commission office, located in the Courthouse in downtown LaFayette.
