LANETT, Ala. — Mrs. Eleanor Johnson, 86, of Lanett passed away on Wednesday evening, February 7, 2018 at the EAMC-Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Larry) Miller and Shirley Claybrook, both of Lanett; her six grandchildren, Christy (Scott) Stephens, Robbie (Tammy) Johnson, and Derrick (Joanna) Miller, all of Valley, Amy (Jody) Antley of Lanett, Jason Duck of Valley, and Chris (Cheryl) Duck of Atlanta, Ga.; her seven great grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, Dakota Antley, Faith Stephens, Pacey Duck, Cohen Price, Noah Antley, and Cade Duck; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pearl Bennett, her brothers, Herman Bennett, Edward Bennett, and Herschell Bennett; her sisters, Mary Fulghum, Earline Prestridge, Bobbie Jean Langley, Cleo Gordon, and Dora Holloway, and her great granddaughter, Emilee Antley.

Mrs. Johnson was born on July 17, 1931 in Randolph County, Ala. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  She had been a lifelong resident of the Valley area and had been in declining health for the past five years. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. EST at the New Hope Baptist Church in Fredonia, Ala. with the Rev. Rusty Letson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. EST until the service hour at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the New Hope Baptist Church in her memory.
