VALLEY — Ms. Dot Rogers, 89, of Valley passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the EAMC-Lanier Hospital in Valley. She was born on May 26, 1928 in Chambers County, Ala, to the late Charles Rogers, Sr. and Wilma B. Rogers.
Ms. Rogers is survived by her sister, Debbie (Donnie) Edwards of Trussville, Ala.; her four special nieces, Penny Jacoby, Gwen Johnson, Terry (Mickey) McHargue, and Mandy Pender; her four special nephews, Chuck (Pam) Rogers, Michael (Cheryl) Gillenwaters, Greg (Taby) Rogers, and Richie (Eve) Milner; and a host of special great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Rogers, Jr. and Cecil Rogers; and her sister, Vivian Gillenwaters.
Ms. Rogers was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She was an honor graduate of Valley High School. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to gospel music, and playing the piano. She loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews and never missed a birthday.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 3 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Pastor Bobby Elliott and Mr. Greg Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. EST until the service hour at the funeral home.
