Shawmut News: Savior’s Hand Gospel Hour hold meeting

AFTER GOING THROUGH some changes throughout the complex at Sylvia Word Manor prior to the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, with changes in management, redecorating with new furniture in the common areas, new carpet and painting in each building, not to mention the hustle and bustle of the Christmas and New Year holidays, maybe things have finally settled down and the meetings of The Savior’s Hand Gospel Hour continue to take place each Monday.
On February 5th, Susie Fincher welcomed the group and called on Brenda Payne to open the meeting in prayer. This was followed by the repeating of their Bible verse and the singing of the chorus “This is the Day” led by Leonard Thrower, W. L. Gillenwaters and Susie Fincher.
Request for prayer were made with W. L. leading in prayer for those mentioned, including Richard Royster, Wanda and Teddy Byrd, Eddie Striblin, Edra Waller, Gladys Jones, Justin Graben, Matt Summers, Kyle Walker (Salvation), Faye Crowder, Cheyanne Van Houten, Betty Shaw and the lost people that they may find Jesus and allow him to come into their lives.
Robert Moore brought the devotional using scripture from James 4:8-18, Deuteronomy 4:1-9 and Matthew 4:10. Group hymn singing included “Victory in Jesus” and “There Shall Be Showers of Blessing”. W. L. sang “Wings of A Dove” and “He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands”. Leonard sang one he had written: “The Victory Is Won”.
Rev. Jerry Ledbetter, Pastor of West Point Presbyterian Church brought a message using scripture from Matthew 18:21-35 where Peter said “Lord, how many times am I to forgive this man?” Jesus was trying to teach us what the Kingdom of Heaven is like and that we should “Forgive from our hearts.”
When they met again on February 12th, Hymns sang were “I Am Resolved” and “Amazing Grace”. W. L. sang “Our Love” and Leonard sang “Everything Alright with My Soul” and “Little Bitty Church on Back Roads”, both he had written.
Rev. Ben Hewitt, Pastor of Rocky Mount Church brought the message using scripture from Ephesians, I Corinthians and Samuel.
Leonard Thrower brought the message when they met on February 19th , speaking on “The Trial” using scripture from the 55th Psalm and II Samuel 15:30-31.
Robert Moore shared scripture from the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians in his devotion time. Hymns sand were “He is so Precious to Me” and “Redeemer, How I Love to Proclaim It”. W. L. sang “It Wasn’t Raining when Noah Built the Ark” and Leonard sang two he had written “Strolling Through the Fire” and “Tomorrow Everything Will Be Alright”.
Faye Crowder led the prayer for the request made including Robert Moore, Richard Royster, Elsie Butler, Gladys Jones, Fisher Wright, Madison Miller, Matt Simmons, Betty Shaw, Kyle Walker, Edra Waller, Mary Fetner, Faye Crowder, JoAnne Pritchett, Brenda Payne, Bill Smith, Batson and Alice Davis, Russell and Eva Sims and Justin Graben.
Attending these meetings were Faye Crowder, Sandra Newton, Sharon Wesson, Rosemary DeLoach, Lewis Nixon, Frank Greer, Eleanor Crowder, Judy Bolt, Anita Smith, Jean French, Edra Waller, Mary Morgan, Kayln Fincher, James O’Steen, Brenda Payne, Rev. Jerry Ledbetter, Rev. Ben Hewitt, Susie Fincher, W. L. Gillenwaters, Robert Moore, Leonard Thrower and Susie Fincher.
