THE CROWNS OF GLORY of Plant City Baptist Church gathered in the fellowship hall of their church on December 6, for a Christmas Luncheon catered by Mrs. Marilyn Butler and the Heart of the South Restaurant in Cusseta.
The group enjoyed a delicious meal of Poppy Seed Chicken, Pork Loin with gravy, Green beans, Squash casserole, Sweet potato soufflé, a green salad and rolls with Banana pudding and Caramel cake for dessert.
Prior to enjoying their meal, Brother Brad Reed, the church pastor, gave a devotion on the true meaning of Christmas with emphasis on the Manger. A musical program was also enjoyed as presented by the Gillenwaters family, composed of W. L. Gillenwaters, David Gillenwaters, Tina Tolleson, Bonnie Edwards and April Crowder. The family sang Christmas carols including “Silent Night”, “Away in a Manger”, “Joy to the World” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”. Bonnie also sang “Not That Far from Bethlehem” and “Mary Did You Know”; W. L. sang “A Night to be Remembered” and April sang “O Holy Night” accompanied by W. L. on the guitar.
Those coming together to share this special time of the year were Bro. Brad Reed, Sherry Reed, Mary Avanzato, Celia Dabbs, Sara Gautney, W. L. and Peggy Gillenwaters, Yvonne Ivey, Richard and Beverly Perryman, Donald and Janet Poe, Wilburn and JoAnn Prickett, Avis Rice, Barbara Roberts, Melissa Borders, Roger and Rebecca Sorrell, Charles and Dean Chapman, Maggie Hinton, Ann Woodham, David Gillenwaters, Tina Tolleson, Bonnie Edwards and April Crowder.
POKEY’S IN WEST POINT was the place for the January meeting of the Crowns of Glory of Plant City Baptist Church. The group gathered early for a time of discussion and plans for the new year after which they enjoyed a time of fellowship and hamburgers.
In attendance at this meeting were Melissa Borders, Ann Woodham, Roger and Rebecca Sorrells Avis Rice, Yvonne Ivey, Celia Dabbs, Ed Ussery, Curtis Guy, Richard and Beverly Perryman, W. L. and Peggy Gillenwaters, Rev. Brad Reed, Wilburn and JoAnn Prickett, Sara Gautney, Barbara Roberts and Josephine Reese.
PLANT CITY BAPTIST Senior Women’s Sunday School class met on December 13th for breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Opelika. This is an annual Christmas treat for the class.
Good food and good fellowship are always enjoyed as was this trip by Sherry Reed, Celia Dabbs, Barbara Roberts, Melissa Borders, Avis Rice, Sara Gautney, Curtis and Libby Guy, Richard and Beverly Perryman, Yvonne Ivey, Roger and Rebecca Sorrell and Ann Woodham.
