Huguley News: Winter not over just yet
Published 11:28 am Tuesday, March 13, 2018
Hello Huguley friends! Well, I warned you that the winter weather wasn’t over yet! The last week was evidence of that! It was cold enough the last few days of the week to have a fire in the fireplace! It felt pretty good too. I love a fire in the fireplace. I love the smell of the fireplace on a cool evening as the day wears off and we settle down for the evening with a cup of coffee and a blanket or put another log on the fire and watch a little television. I know e really need some more cold rainy weather, but, it surely will make me happy when the days are about 25 degrees warmer that it has been lately.
I am getting all sorts of seed and flower catalogs lately. I guess the retailers are all ready for spring too. I have always wished I had enough money to get everything I wished I could buy. But, then I end up glad I don’t have that kind of money since I am not as young as I used to be and can’t get up and down to work in the yard like I used to. But, I sure do love the spring and summer as the flowers and bushes and trees all come to life.
I got this notice and wanted to pass it along to you. It actually came from The Bridge located in Cusseta. To lose a loved one is tragic but even greater is not knowing where to turn for help. That’s where GriefShare comes in! A Place to Turn, A Group to Belong to when you hurt the most! GriefShare, a special help seminar and small group support for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held on Sunday evenings at The Bridge Church beginning March 18th from 4 to 6 PM CST for 13 weeks excluding Easter, Mother’s day and Father’s Day. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Is This Normal?” “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?” and “Guilt and Anger.” Meetings will be held at 1000 Lee Road 263 Cusseta AL 36852 in the Multi-Purpose Room. For more information, call The Bridge Church at 334.742.0144 or go to www.griefshare.org or www.thebridge.ws.
I have a personal note to interject here. Willard and I were headed home the other day and on highway 50 near our home. A beautiful chocolate lab had been hit by a car and left on the road right where the poor animal would be hit again and again. I realize we need to be diligent about keeping our animals secure. Sometimes, except for physically restraining an animal, this is close to impossible. We have an old bloodhound that at 16 years old can clear a 4 foot fence with one jump. He is like a gazelle when he wants out of the yard. But he always comes home and jumps back into the yard. We were able to let the family of this chocolate lab know about their pet within just a little bit about their pet. Please, try to keep them at home. It is heart wrenching to have to drive by the spot where your beloved furbaby was run over several times. Willard bad moved the dog to the shoulder of the road where it shouldn’t get hit any more. We were able to let the owner know where her pet was. It is just a sad thing. Rant over!
Remember to add to your calendar of events this month this Walk with Jesus! Come and experience some of the events of Jesus’ life to get an understanding of who He was and why He is so important to us! Watch Him as He heals the leper. See how He deals with the religious leaders as they accuse an adulterous woman. Hear Him talk to the Samaritan woman at the well. Watch Him as He shares the Passover meal with the disciples – His last meal. Listen to His heartfelt cry to God in the Garden. Then, listen in as Jesus is condemned to die. Feel the anguish as He is forced to carry His cross and follow Him as He goes to Golgotha. Experience the crucifixion as Jesus hangs upon the cross and dies. Then experience the great joy of His resurrection! This is a free event that will take place at Happy Valley Baptist Church on March 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30. Make your reservations prior to the event for yourself and up to 16 people per group by calling 706-590-1453. Donations will be accepted. Call before the time slots fill up!!! A guided tour will begin every 30 minutes beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT, with the last group beginning at 9 p.m. Bring folks with you that need to see and hear the Gospel message. At least 5 other churches are helping put this together so it’s not to lift up a church (Happy Valley) or another person (the pastor), we are lifting up Jesus….and we desire your help. Come and walk with us as we “Walk With Jesus”.
