Looking forward to Spring events

Last week saw the opening round of the Chambers County Lake Fishing Tournaments that will continue until June and two weeks from now will see the inaugural St. Paddy’s on the River.
Spring in the Valley is looking to be an exciting time with several big events planned.
The Lanett Recreation Department is accepting registration for the 2018 Youth Baseball and Softball season
At the end of the month the 4th annual Spring Car-Truck-Motorcycle Show will be held at the Chambers County Annex.
On April 24, we’ll see the 21st annual LaFayette Day. Between the food and crafts there will be a volunteer firemen’s competition, car show and motorcycle ride.
Finally on April 28 we’ll have the first Barry E. Smith Black Bass Fishing Tournament at West Point Lake.
With so many Spring events the Valley looks to be the place to be but here are a few suggestions for events that would fit well alongside these others.
A Chattahoochee River kayaking race that stretches the length of the Valley area.
A “Spring Fling” style event featuring booths set up by members of the various Valley area communities, i.e. Huguley, Shawmut, Langdale, etc.
Some type of cooking and/or eating completion, i.e. a barbecue or chili cook-off and a hot dog or watermelon eating contest.
These event, plus others would add much to the area and give use even more to show off our home.
