Man admitted to WellStar with gunshot wounds to hands

TROUP COUNTY — An early morning call to WellStar West Georgia involved a 21-year-old male who came in with what appeared to be wounds to his hands consistent with gunshots.
Upon arrival, investigators spoke to the patient, who reported he was the passenger in a car traveling south on Interstate 85 at approximately 6:20 a.m., when his window shattered and there were immediate injuries to both hands.
The report states that the only description he could provide of the car where the shot originated from was that it was silver in color. No shooter or driver description could be provided.
A small caliber bullet fragment was recovered from the vehicle. The case is still under investigation.
Sgt. Stewart Smith said as of Thursday evening there was no new information regarding this case.
