Valley reports
VALLEY — At approximately 8:40 p.m. EDT on Thursday, Valley police officers responded to a robbery call at the Family Dollar store located on Highway 29 in the Fairfax community.
Upon arrival, officers met with the store clerk. The clerk told them that a suspect had entered the store brandishing a semiautomatic pistol and told the customers present to get out. He then demanded money from the clerk. The clerk told him that she couldn’t open the safe, and the suspect left the store.
According to Major Mike Reynolds of the Valley Police Department, the suspect has been identified as a black male, approximately six feet in height, wearing khaki pants, a black hoodie and a dust mask. He was seen getting into a small gray car and left in an unknown direction.

There was one arrest in Valley on Thursday. Phillip Wayne Whaley, 30, of Valley has been charged with bail jumping, second degree.
Valley officers are investigating a report of criminal mischief, third degree, that was reported on Thursday.
SHERIFF’S OFFICE reports
LaFAYETTE — Three people were arrested in Chambers County on Thursday. According to Chambers County Sheriff’s Office reports,
Marcus Johns, 28, of Opelika, Ala. has been charged on a grand jury indictment of theft of property, third degree, and a probation violation;
Jaquan Powell, 29, of LaFayette has been charged with failure to pay on a charge of criminal mischief, second degree, and
Janet Duffie, 45, of Roanoke, Ala. has been charged with failure to appear on charges of failure to stop at a railroad crossing and failure to register a vehicle.

LANETT — Donald Lewis Spence, 53, of LaFayette has been charged with FTA – traffic and failure to pay.
