WEST POINT — Republican candidate for Secretary of State David Belle Isle visited Pokey’s in West Point Thursday in an effort to speak to residents about his credentials.
Belle Isle, the former mayor of Alpharetta Ga. was introduced by Mayor Steve Tramell of West Point.
“Thank you all for coming out today,” Belle Isle said. “I appreciate you being here and thank you all.”
Belle Isle is running on the platform of a conservative leader with a vision, a vision which includes such things as: secured elections, delivering rural broadband and supporting agriculture and emerging industries.
“I come at it [the duties of secretary of state] with a little bit different perspective,” he said. “The question that really drew me into this race was ‘What would happen is you looked at the secretary of state’s office through te eyes of a mayor?’”
Belle Isle continued, saying he would focus on bringing the state forward by leading.
He pointed to his work as mayor of Alpharetta in which 640 companies and 12,000 jobs were added to the city.
The election will be held June 5.
