Mr. Richard “Dinky” Brooks

HICKORY FLAT, Ala. — Memorial services for Richard “Dicky” Brooks, 94, of the Hickory Flat community, will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1 p.m. EDT from the Standing Rock United Methodist Church.

Mr. Brooks passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at Tanner Medical-East Alabama Center in Wedowee, Ala.

Survivors include: two daughters, Karen P. Daniel (husband, James) and Debra Caldwell (husband, Jesse), both of Roanoke; two sons, Richard Clinton Brooks, Jr., of Hickory Flat and Thomas Steven “Bama” Brooks of Roanoke; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A Fairfax, Ala. native, Mr. Brooks was born on September 16, 1923.  He was a World War II Army veteran and worked in maintenance at WestPoint Pepperell.  Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Clark Brooks, Sr.; his mother, Ada Mae Jinx Brooks; his wife, Frances Hudson Brooks; and three brothers, Glenn Brooks, Sr., Sidney Brooks, Jr., and Herron Brooks.

A memorial service will be held at Standing Rock United Methodist Church at a later date.
