LaFAYETTE — Mrs. Annie Louise Finley, 90, of LaFayette died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 11322 Veterans Memorial Parkway, LaFayette on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at noon CDT with the Rev. Michael Stiggers officiating.

Interment will be in the Handy Cemetery in LaFayette. The remains will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. CDT until the funeral hour. Public viewing was held at Vines Funeral Home, Monday, April 16, 2018 from noon until 6 p.m. CDT.

Mrs. Finley was born April 3, 1928 in Chambers County to the late Anderson and Ada Webb Whitlow. She became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church (formerly known as Kellum Hill Baptist Church) at an early age. In her adult years, she served in many roles such as treasurer of the senior choir and secretary of senior missionary. She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Private Russell B. Allen and Mr. Albert Finley. Mrs. Finley was known in the community as a great seamstress. She later became known as being one of the first four African Americans to be hired at Playtex Manufacturing in LaFayette.

She is survived by her two daughters. Mary Ann Allen and Deborah Cornelia Allen, both of LaFayette; one granddaughter, Adrienne Jordan, Opelika, and a host nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
