Police searching for armed suspect after robbery

WEST POINT — Officers with the West Point Police Department are searching for a man that robbed the Lotto Place on Friday.
According to an official release, at around 11 a.m. officers received a call at the store located at 599 West 3rd Avenue about an armed robbery.
“The initial investigation revealed a black male entered the store and produced a firearm; he then proceeded to demand monies from the clerk,” the release states.
The clerk complied with the demand and the suspect fled the scene in the direction of the Alabama – Georgia state line on West 4th Avenue with an undetermined amount of cash.
The release describes the suspect as a black male, five feet, eight inches in height with a medium build wearing tan pants, a black shirt and a black mask/hoodie.
“This subject is considered to be armed and dangerous based on the use and display of the firearm during the armed robbery,” the release states.
