Police searching for armed suspect after robbery

WEST POINT — Officers with the West Point Police Department are searching for a man that robbed the Lotto Store Friday.

According to an official release, at around 11 a.m. officers received a call at the store located at 599 3rd Avenue about an armed robbery.

“The initial investigation revealed a black male entered the store and produced a firearm; he then proceeded to demand monies from the clerk,” the release states.

The clerk complied with the demand and the suspect fled the scene in the direction of the Alabama – Georgia state line on 4th Avenue with an undetermined amount of cash.

The release describes the suspect as a black male, five feet, eight inches in height with a medium build wearing tan pants, a black shirt and a black mask/hoodie.

“This subject is considered to be armed and dangerous based on the use and display of the firearm during the armed robbery,” the release states.

Officers with the West Point Police Department are asking for anyone that might have information on the incident or that might have been in the area during the incident and noticed any suspicious person or vehicle to call the West Point Police at 706-645-3535 or 706-645-3548 or the local Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
